Captains Log. 26 June 2010. Location: Disused coal mine near Retford, Notts.

Tested new oil, and results were highly impressive. Going to lean out high speed a bit more on the next tank. Get a strange feeling, I can lean it a lot more than previous oil. More power is imminent.

Disaster: vessel loss all controls, and veered severely off course and came to a halt fully submerged in the pond. Vessel taken maximum water on board. Initial diagnoses, kill all power to the electrics. Proceeded rescuing of vessle, zero crew casualty.

Final damage report: missing C-clip on layshaft gear. All systems go, third channel failsafe requires some attention.

:punk:

Hi Mike,

So far so good, but the Killer Bee had issues (powered off the TX, but engine kept running..) still need to test that. Other than that, receiver and servo's seem ok.

Have replaced all wheel bearings, may need to do so with others as well.

How water tight are rubber sealed bearings? The Punisher was under for no more than 15 seconds.

It's good that the servos made it ok. Maybe take one of the sealed bearings and us the tip of a sharp knife and gently pop the seal off the side of a bearing to see if any water got in there. It will pop back in after. I do that to clean and re-grease mine.

Ah sweet, I'll have to do that..it could only benefit.

How often do you re-grease your bearings? Or is it a matter of how often you run it and what conditions you run it? In my case..haha..running is water is a VERY rare occurance..haha..hopefully. =)

I missed this thread, guess you'll have to fit a snorkel to the carb from now on LOL....you were lucky everything survived.
i had a killerB switch that got soaked...after drying it worked again, the led on the board quit is all which was no biggie as it's buried in my rx box

LOL, yes!! Like the Landrovers have!! LOL

Extremely lucky indeedy. Bar the wheel bearings..everything seems ok.

Any ideas what sort of things I can do to test my KillerBee? It works on the bench, but then again, it did work at close range (occasionally it doesn't) at the bash..

test it on the bench insitu you should hear it click as you turn it on by the remote...i've a buggered one that turns on and off when plugging the batt directly into it but not by remote on the tx switch, the signal circuit has fried on the switch:mad:

Cool, going to work it off the aux switch on the TX, set that up and then test it.

It's strange, the KB was working in a random way, regardless of distance.. =(

I'll go through the bearings, as needed, but more often(every month or so) for the wheel bearings.
