hello just wondered if someone wouldn't mind posting some pictures of a large servo operating the throttle/brake linkages? Nige from freeprawn has very kindly sent me a new 5755 servo and i have it on the chasis but the lower brake linkage doesnt look like it is going to work, i know people use them and they come standard on some thunderbolts so it is me being a dumbass. any help would be gratefully received :going insane:

thanks chaps b

I had the same issue buddy. The front brake cam link arm collet collided with the centre diff top plate.

So I borrowed an idea that I saw in Isle of Wight's thread, where he bent that link into a S shape.

I did it quite slowly, as I wasn't sure how brittle it was going to be.

Funny that, was trying to find a picture that Banners posted, but can't seem to for the life of me.

So, if anybody knows which thread that throttle/brake servo link pic is..please give us a heads-up =)

Yeah, its tight, but it does work, honest :)

Best thing to do is just to, as Mud says, bend the linkage so it makes an S shape. I'll post some pics tomorrow for ya.

here's mine

The nuts allow fine adjustment without the trouble of the collets at the other end. Isle Of Wight basher did them - great mod imo

it will work without a bend with one below and one above as in pipe's pic however the bottom plastic bit on the servo horn rubs on the top of the servo with a hitec but doesn't snag up.
the s bend is best way to go with the hitecs

Thank you ever so much for the pics and comments it is very helpful, actually bunked off work today to sort the car out.....5th scale bug is biting hard he he. the standard linkages aren't long enough really so was thinking of doing the mod like banners/ iowbasher, but in the photos banners brake linkage only seems to be threaded on one end, i was thinking of just buying lengths of threaded rod then cutting them to the exact size once i had bent the s bend, that might not be ideal tho, are they special linkage bars? where do i get them?

i have tried bending the standard bars and they work really well but just not quite long enough for any reasonable adjustment...mud did you find that?

nice tyres pipeous what does it handle like on the flat stuff? did you add anti roll bars? i found i was munching wheel rims on tarmac so i have some coming this week.

by the way as the car was in bits on the advice of nige i have added a uprated clutch spring, the weekend cant come soon enough now.....just gotta get the brakes sorted.

mine is threaded at one end only. You can get control rods from hobby shops with a m3 thread on the end or certainly online you can. I think that's what IoW did tbh.

The problem with a length of studding is the motion won't be as smooth but it should work.

Good luck with the weekend, I hope the weather picks up a little :)

Yes, New, once the link is bent into S shape..it has lost some length.. =(

Are you sorted for pictures now?

The tyres pipe's has are for the FG F1 car they are about £40-50 a pair new and last bloomin ages Let me know if you want some :o)

You might pick up some F1 tyres (or FG Truck tyres, same thing) on Ebay if your lucky :)

it handled good with the f1 tires. they are the hardest you can buy. on the f1 they sucked but gave good traction on the 4wd. I just flipped the 2 gears around and had lots of top end but changed the buggy back to off road since I have 3 other on roads to play with... looks like rain this sunday so the tb2 is probably going to get some dirt action. don't mind it getting muddy

I don't have a problem with mine rubbing, thread from the bottom side up and there's no nut to rub on the servo anymore

What's rubbing Barry?

the brake linkage. I run the screw upside down so it doesn't rub the servo case with the straight wires

So I guess the brake linkage could also be referred to as a rub and tug haha

Ah, it's all in fun.

I had the same issue when I ran the large throttle servo also. But putting the screw upside down in the servo arm fixed it easy enough.

well managed to get those threaded linkages, but forgot to buy the plastic sliding thingys they go in, cos they are m3 they are to big for the nutech ones :damn:

so went out this weekend without any brakes which wasn't to bad ipkiss melted his clutch bell holder so i spent the rest of the day talking him off the local bridge ha ha.

anyway back to some of the earlier posts..... i will let you know when i manage to slide my rod into some nice plastic cups:excited:
