Hi all I have just received maybe the first in the world outside China

The all new TB2 factory Pro Race Version:dance:
This is the first pre-production unit and is factory assembled (production units will be kit form) Only a few distributors and racers have been selected to receive these units at the moment.
Very impressed with all the finish on the machined alloy parts.

Here's a few out of box pic's I will update as I am building this up!

These are impressive cars and the more I have had to work on them the better they get! They are certainly not budget cars by all means like other clone brand's of Chinese produced 1/5 scale cars, they are more mid to high end range. And these are not in anyway a clone!!!!

Anyway I have completely stripped and filled center and front diff's with 100,000wt silicone oil and 4000 rear. I finished the engine and fitted to chassis I also need to fit some packers to the LHS billet engine mount to compensate for Zenoahs deeper clutch housing, I could of used a CY but decided to keep all Zen.

the weight for the RTR (without battery, without radio and the spanner for the engine) is about 11.3KG

if the RTR with radio and spanner for the engine is about 12.2kg

Ok had a bit of set back yesterday I received my servos but this Pro kit is designed to have a largescale servo for throttle/brake but I wanted to use a Hitec HS-7955TG std size but 24kg torque @6V. So I had to design and get made a new servo mounting plate to fit into position (see pic's)

As this car is going to be used solely for me racing at our LS tracks here in New Zealand I am also changing things to make it more reliable but up most to handle well, so while waiting for my plate to be made I went through the front end suspension and found there was a bit of bump steering in the steering geometry! Not having much time to make too many new items as the car is to debut this weekend at a special promo racing, I changed the positions of the steering components to eliminate the bump steer the main thing was just flipping over the center track bar! I also fitted grub screws to the C-hubs to tighten up the front end I will also look at fitting bearings into them to eliminate a bit of play in there for the steering knuckles.

Had a good day today! Managed to get everything done sorted out the throttle/brake servo but still not 100% satisfied with it will be doing a MK2 model soon! I am not a fan on on/off switches at the best of times so removed the std slide switch and fitted a rubber splash proof rocker switch to see how that performs, I have been using a Lipo 7.4V 2S for awhile now in my other cars so this car also got one also fitted a Outlaw RC direct power servo harnesss full power is going to the servos!

Finally got to the stage of running and everything working so took it down to local track for a test run, only managed several laps but feels good but yet to do a race set-up on it yet. more tomorrow and hope to get a video of it then!

Looks great!! How'd you get the Dom pipe to fit so nicely?

Thanx Mike:) The pipe started as a clone pipe but a few cuts here and there and turns I got it to fit:D and made a rubber joiner at the header but it is a hassle to get it on and off at the moment you have to take the rollcage off completely to also remove the pipe. As this is the first version there is still room to improve, also looking at a jetpro rear pipe for MCD to modify which I think will fit easier.

Had an awesome weekend a bit wet and windy but the racing was great!

Also a couple of problems with the car but as you would expect from a new car motor was loosening up nicely and getting faster & faster after each run. But the worst part was a rear diff pinion bearing failed first thing on the second day stopping my racing:mad:

Here's a vid of it when she was starting to crank out!

Ok here is the pic's of the mod I have done to the alloy C-hubs I have used FG part # 4466 spherical bearings these take all the slop out from the C-hub to steering knuckle. Pic also of the std bolt and bush. I have also shimmed up all the steering linkage so now the only play is in the std plastic rodends which is not much.

ever considered using locknuts on the turn buckles to stop pulling the thread out of the alloy arms? (probly wouldn't help in your case Bryan:))

I also race full scale offroad Buggies and if you don't use lock nuts on the tierod end then they will strip the thread out every time just with the slight play in the threads will cause jarring in the threads and the lock nut will take the movement out

Hi Ben, Yes locknuts wouldn't have helped my situation:mad: And now I have gone to 8mm turnbuckles I would normally run them, but I have run out of FG 1/2 locknuts for LH threads that I normally use they are on order so will fit on arrival just hope I don't have problem before they arrive.

Small world really:D

Not alot of pipes available yet but I think most pipes for the Titan should fit or be very close, that is why I have had to modify a pipe to suit but I am thinking about getting a side VRC pipe to try, as only heard good things about them. I have also asked Olimat engineering in Adelaide to see if he can make a suitable pipe as well.

46u
10-30-2009, 09:43 PM
I have been talking to Mike at CPI and he said he is interested in making one for my TBII Pro when I get it. I run his pipes on my 5b SS and really like it. Right now he has a standard pipe for stock engines and a big bore for engines with more displacement for the HPI Baja. All so on the HPI Baja they are WELL protected.

Have been looking around and was looking at a side mounted pipe. The VRC or Mielke look like they should fit without too much modifacation.
Had a look at the Titan jetpro but looks like I will have to cut away to much of the shell to make it fit.

Yeah it mite be a bit of hassle getting to the fuel cap but in the end that doesn't really matter unless you were running a 1hr final for refueling:D

The fuel cap could of been placed on the top of the tank then wouldn't have any hassles!

can't remember where I posted it but the 5b vrc side propipe should be a straight forward mod for these trucks, may even fit without having to do any cuts or welds..only thing to change would then be the mounting brackets, i modded a rear one for my rampage on a 30.5 ported motor and it is sick, sick, sick
http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww294/mooman007uk/DSC00838.jpg
... best pipe out there by far...was running modded rear doms before that were impressive but the propipe is on another level. only concern would be the length...i'm going to shoot Sean an email to find out how long they are http://www.oneillbrothers.com/rccar/itemdescription/victory_ussm.htm

DDM has the steel meilke manifolds that exit out to the side..one of these should make many pipe mods a little more straight forward

the pro or standard one as they are quite different in the belly part of the pipe, the pro is designed for ported 26+ cc and may be a little longer.

will the jetpro fit the car ?? with out the body ok ??

I do have jetpro titan/gas devil pipe on my desk.
pipe or / and TB2 (rtr-model) needs lots of mods.

Main things:
- rollcage
- throttle & brake links
- tank
- body

I think gas devil do have smaller tank, so that why it does not fit TB2.

It can be fitted, but needs lots of work.

A few new updates to the Pro kit

First the Cast alloy diff cases are now in the rubbish bin! I was asked on another forum if these cases were the same as Smartech Titan and after reading that I contacted the factory and they said they are the same cases as used by SMT. Now they are working on CNC billet ones

After numerous roll overs to help test these cars to the limit (nothing to do with my driving of course:excited:) the rear roll cage post started to give up being plastic so made some alloy ones up.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj279/rcinnovations/Nutech%20TB2%20Race%20Pro%20Kit/NutechTB2Proalloyrearrollcageposts.jpg

New additions from the factory are anti-roll bar sets with 3, 3.5 & 4mm bars with very nice steel rod end links. These are the first samples which I will be testing out and reporting back to the factory. I will start with 3mm and change to see which is the best set for my car.

So far the testing of Sway bars (anti-roll bar)has been very good I have modified the front bar's so they fit better and have been using 3mm front and 3.5mm rear, next I will try 3.5mm front and 4mm rear. I still think they links (rodends) need to be male & female so you can adjust them better and get shorter.

Welcome Mr RCI.

I agree, where I used to work, they have a lazer and sometimes cuts funny..leaving burrs and sometimes requires a little finishing on cut aluminium/steel/stainless steel/etc.

Does your wing mount has enough clearance for the JP pipe (http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.7149/.f)?

Might have to make a different template around that pipe, or wait for a side pipe.

Finally got to the stage of running and everything working so took it down to local track for a test run, only managed several laps but feels good but yet to do a race set-up on it yet. more tomorrow and hope to get a video of it then!

over the years of off road racing I have had on off switches fail so many times I don't use them anymore. on my castle esc's I cut the switch off and solder the wires together. it turns on when I plug in the battery. same with the tb2. hang a deans out of the box or you can use a micro dean's charge plug and one wire hanging out with the dean's mounted in the radio box. also makes it easier to charge.

if you run in dirty or wet conditions, it's the safest bet. my tb2 switch died my second time out to play.. one of those should have known better moments too. on road I don't mind a decent switch
