ok, Sean at ONB sent me the length for the unsilenced propipe, he doesn't have a silenced one and who wants one of those anyways:rolleyes:

from the manifold forward it's 13" and total length from back of header to tip of stinger it's 15", so 2" from mani to back of header, so need 2" and a touch to clear the rear shock tower...get the tape out peops and let us know. It'll clear the gear set I'm sure as it humps over the 5b gears and clutch...i hope this fits cos i really don't think you can get a better pipe, might need a tiddley bit of modding but it'll be well worth it. note the pro version is for 26cc+ ported motors not stockers

Hey Moo, this what your looking for, there is a good 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 inchs from the head to the rear shock tower.

And a really quick vid of the pipe I threw together last week, looks like there would be lots of room to make about anything work fairly easy

If the VRC pipes fit easily enough, then that's great news. :yahoo:

What Pipe are you using Gas Jockey?

I wish i had an MT already (it'll be xmas time) cos i'd have a vrc in the mail already, by the looks of it it'll bolt right up but may need a cut and weld somewhere and will definitely need brackets making up but probably not on the pipe...should be able to use the existing ones and fab up some for the chassis. If the pipe does need cutting and welding and enough people are interested I'd see if i could get a deal going with Sean and mod these a few at a time to order (if I can make it work of course). I'll be down at Scott's next weekend and will take a closer look at the truck, looks to be bags of room to make this work, the propipe is probably the best pipe available today...remember these are the RN pipes of old...sick power. Watch this space

Hey Mike, that pipe is out of my warehouse hobbies man-o-war gas boat, it actually works pretty good, just screams at the top end lol!

sounds good, i'm not a side pipe fan due to the vunerabiltiy of them but with the nutech there is no other choice, the vrc's are .025" thick very light but will bend easy so it either needs to be tucked well in or, as i plan to do, have a 4130 cage built round it so it's totally protected.

can't wait to see this mounted up, the only real problem i see is the fuel tank cap might be inaccessable with this pipe but an airplane quick filler on the other side would solve that

'fraid I'm a basher, and when I get together for race days with gas jockey and friends it's carnage:rolleyes: In our part of the world there are no proper tracks or organised events...one day we hope to change that but bashing it has to be for now, besides at organised events you can't drink lots of beer:D (or can you?...guess we'd have to make it mandatory to even out the field:good idea:)

Ok, all the people who ordered a propipe fess up, i went to order mine yesterday ready for my MT that's on it's way and Sean told me that he's sold out...apparently had a bit of a rush on them ...on back order:mad::mad:...he also said he'd had feedback from a couple of guys with from what I understand would be the old titan who said they'll bolt straight on with no pipe mods and all you need to do is make some mount brackets to mount on the truck so looks like it should fit the new design with no problems

I have been looking at both VRC pipes 5B & 5T and seems the 5T has a short bend header which should give plenty of clearance! and have been told the 5T o/a length is shorter?

mooman007uk

that's the regular vrc pipe not the propipe, propipe is for bigger cc ported motors exclusively from onb and has the victory rc plate welded to it, is a bit different in constrution, the pro has a different header and body ..only comes in one size at the moment but if you're keeping the motor stock at 26cc then you'll want the regular vrc and yep the 5t one should have lots of clearance looking at it...

which ever one you end up with you wont be disappointed though

you can see the difference clearly between the unsilenced one in the pics

At the moment I am running a modified 23cc Zen 2 bolt and rev's alot higher than my Zen 26cc 4 bolt. The pro pipe looks good do they come silenced??

Will have to wait until you get your car and see how it bolts up! the only reason why I didn't run a side pipe first was I didn't want to cut the side of the buggy body out.

mooman007uk

yep they come silenced, Sean said he had a couple of customers with the original smartech tb/titan and they bolted straight on with just mounts having to be made for the chassis, i'm hoping the tb 1 and 2 are similar enough as regards engine/gear layout so the pipe will mount the same...gas jockey will know cos he has a tb1 and the new MT...whad'ya reckon Scott?

My Smartech TB1 has a very similar layout compared to the MT, on the gear carrier side anyway. If it fit on the SMT TB1 it will fit the MT. Not sure about the TB2 though but I'm guessing it's real similar to the MT

Yep roll cage is the same for MT and TB2 but they are different to SMT TB1

Looks like I have bben missled as I thought I had the Pro Pipe comming but looking at the above pictures I have the standard VRC Pipe. Will be interesting to see how it goes on the 27.5cc engine. All waiting at home when I get back next week :yahoo:

here's a vid of the pipe you have coming on a baja...you wont be disappointed unless you happen to be along side someone running the pro

this is the silenced one the unsilenced should have a touch more kick to it

Chris, try going into to youtube and type in vrc sidepipe it should come up with a bunch of others.

pipe options are important for a lot of prospective buyers...myself included and as i don't mind making things fit and have i look for all the available options .
fortunately for us, due to the nutech layout, there's quite a few sidepipes that'll work...rear pipe is going to be a bit of a problem though rckiwi has already modded a 5b rear dom 2 different ways with good results so there is room back there...i also think the 5t dominator wrap around will fit the MT with little effort http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.6344/.f
i'm sure once people see the tb2 and megaMT piped up and flying and see how durable these cars are this forum will grow with many new owners and pipe makers will then get on board a give us more options.

Only thing I can See to consider is the fuel tank, on my install it's high enough that I can access the cap but looks to me that it may be a little difficult with the other options mentioned

mooman007uk
11-15-2009, 07:47 PM
I agree, tank access is my biggest concern and probably nexes the 5Tdom idea. I've been studying your pipe install and cos the engine slants back a little i'm hoping it'll give enough rotation for the vrc to sit as high as yours does in the tank region...failing that i'll get a flush mount cap...i've seen one somewhere but can't seem to locate it at the moment, failing that I'll get the zip cut and welder out and start hacking;)...your pipe though shows that it'll be pretty easy for pipe makers to come up with something...maybe you should patent it quickly:D

The rear dom mod is great pipe works well and I don't think it has lost any punch from the mods! But my brain has been working overtime as I really want a side pipe as the rear pipe is a pain everytime I want to do work on the rear the pipe has to be removed:mad:

Anyway I have come up with an new idea for a pipe location and still be able to use the std buggy body without cutting the side out of it:dance:

Will post once I have it sorted.

got if figured if pipe gets in the way, home depot sell pvc liquid tight bulkhead fittings so I'll be able to move the filler to the other side and you can get the screw on end fittings for a cap and chuck in a dubro fitting for a vent:good idea: it'll have to be a touch smaller than the tank opening though so you can get the nut in the tank to tighten it down...that could be a bit of a cursing session trying to get it on the fitting but it's kind of a plan

Sorry man, I have one coming, I am probally part of that rush. I ordered a bunch of stuff, it all ended up in Great Britian, then was sent back to O'Neill Brothers. It is hopefully on it's way here again. I'll size it up for you. LOL
