I'll fix that right away. ;)
Like all ways since the 18th first thing in the morning I checked the tracking number. It said it was STILL in New York. A couple hours later there was a knock on the door.

Shocks are 1000wt, diffs not sure, I told factory to send mine dry, but I would say they will be grease filled.

Nice looking buggy, what was your first impression now that you’ve seen it first hand? I can’t wait to get home; I was told mine arrived yesterday. I should be home tomorrow.:yahoo:

I am use to shock oil weights being like 5,10,15,20 and so on so what do you recommend? What oils are you running in your diffs?

For the most part I am very impressed but do have a few recommendations I will post after checking it out more. For the most part minor recommendations.

my pro car came with oil in the diffs ....but i didnt know what it was so i changed it to 100,000 in the front and center and 50,000 in the rear
im still running standard shock oils in mine
Guessing the way the oils other are using the way they list them is different then the way I am use to.
I think I am going to start out with 5k front, 7K center, 2K rear. on the shocks 40weight front and 15weight rear. All subject to change.
Do others have these washers under their left engine mount? Will know more when I go to install the engine.

I don't have the washers in mine.
So far most of the aluminum parts look like they are billet but the left engine mount with the washers looks like it might be cast?

Mine never had the washers there! they are deffo cnc mount, I would wait until you bolt motor in and recheck then!!! I did have to use washers on that mount, but it was for the bolts that go through the engine and through that mount as the spacing is different from Zen to CY. If you use a CY clutch housing it won't need them tho.

I think with those wt's you will be too thin, those are what you would use in a Nitro not a big LS car!
In my HPI Baja which only has a rear diff I run 7K and it is all most to thick. It came with 1K in the kit but I wanted something a little thicker. Thanks for the input and please keep it coming.

Yep I found in my Baja 4-5k was plenty and more than that was too much especially for track work!
As I am running a locked center diff now I run 100k front and 50k rear, shocks 2k rear and 3k front
I all so thought the TBII Pro Racer came with CVD?

even if it's cast wouldn't be a big deal....99% of fg alloy parts are cast:eek: and they seem to hold up just fine
Front CVD only!
I did not take a good look at mine till now and mine does have CVD in the front. Do to the tracks I run on I do not want to look the center diff. I have asked on different forums about the oils and do to all the variables I have gotten different opinions but all agree I need to go heaver then what I run in my 1/8 buggy.
The diff oil is going to be another set back on getting it running as I do not have a hobby shop near by and will have to order it. All so the selection is not near as good after 10K even on the large scale suppliers in the US. Back to searching and thanks guys for the input and please keep it coming.
One of the things I am doing is changing the screws I will be taking out the most over to hex head. :D

think I'll be doing the screw thing as well and I'm in the same boat with the diff oils...went to our main hobby shop here on the island yesterday as gas jockey and myself are out of heavy oils...needed 30K, 50K and at least 120K...only had one bottle of 120K left:( so shall have to order up some as well
Scott was running 50, 120. 50 and it works real well...50k in front rear still allows the wheels to counter rotate on the stand when you spin one so isn't too stiff but still allows for good tail out drifting and donuts:excited:
The racers here running the 3 diff MCD buggy are recommending 20 to 50 in the middle but I think I am going with 30 middle to start with. I want it to slip of the jumps if needed. Still pondering over what to use front and back. I like to run heaver in the front then the back so it pulls a little harder and keeps the rear from trying to pass the front.

Simple and fits both plastic and alloy diff cases.
OK hope to order most of what I need for my TBII this Friday. Hoping some of the online RC shops are going to have a black Friday sale. LOL. I guess unless you live in the US do not know what black is Friday. LOL

Yeah have seen a few shops saying a black friday specials overthere but a black friday to me is friday the 13th???
The biggest shopping day in the US is the day after our Thanksgiving. All the stores have the best prices of the years with some very good give away and people start lining up HOURS before the stores open. It is such a pain in the butt and I am one that will not be there as it is just to much hassle no matter how good the prices are. But I will check to see if DDM and others are having a sale. LOL

they reckon it's the first day in the year that retailers are actually in the black so from here to year end is all profit...every day before in the year is a red day cos they've made nothing...i think it's pants myself when you consider a lot of large chain retail stores, best buy, furniture outlets etc mark up 25-40% so it's hard to believe... for the poor little guy in his hobby shop it's probably true though:o
Well I will be home working on my TB II Pro and placing orders on line. To heck with getting out in that mob. LOL. I did place a small order with Tower Hobbies today with some of the diff oil I am going to try and a few other things to make it worth the $4.99 shipping.
Right now I am putting a new stock CY 26 together out of parts to start with. Need to get off my LAZY butt and finish porting my GP 290 and my 30.5. :D
Washed the body getting read to put a coat of paint on it. Hope I have enough paint. Will be like all my other Rebel Racing rigs.
I am a little concerned on the size of the radio box. Hope I have room for my hump pack, Nomadio RX and my killer Bee kill switch.

bentley what pipe are you running? Is that a HPI baja filter and are you running a TeamPhatDad-RC Inclined Headstock?
bentley marshall
11-25-2009, 10:51 PM
the pipe is a carson pipe made for the titan
the filter is a outlaw rc filter
headstock??? not sure what that is so i will say no

What throttle brake servo are you running? A plate came with my TBII Pro where I can run a standard size servo or leave the plate off I think I can run a large scale servo. I will be running the Rhino Digi 4 like most hear which I all so run in my HPI Baja.
bentley marshall
11-25-2009, 11:16 PM
for throttle im running a 755HB hitech that i moded a little and fitted a rhino top and steel gears on to it seems to do the job realy well
yes they big servo fits with out the plate but the screw holes are not far enuff apart so ya can only get 2 screws one in each end .
If that is the case I will run one of my AE same as Ace 1015 like I have in my 5b SS and my 1/8 buggies.

It will be a while as I have my TBII taken all apart. Waiting on some parts before I put it back together so it could be a week or so. :(

I'm just curious to see where and how it attaches. I may need to order one up.
Might not be much help but it mounts where I am guessing the stock throttle and brake servo mounts. Being mine did not come with servos I can only look in the manual and make an educated guess.

I'll go check my manual.
Thanks
This might help. Daren that is some sweet looking parts!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kinda of wish the servo would be 90 degrees from what it is but this way will keep the servo much farther away from the gears.

As my Pro car was one of the first they didn't supply one of those brackets for small servo as factory presumed customers would use large servo!
So I got mate to machine this bracket up!

thanks guys. Just what I was looking for!! :D
Chris sent me a reply to my email and the diffis have 30k,30k,10k. I had come to the conclusion I was going to start out with 20k,30k.10k so the only one I need to change is the front. I wish I could find some 15K as I would run this in the back.
He said the shocks have 1K but not sure how the compairs to the oils I use that are like 10,30 40 weight?
Just ordered my Killer Bee #4 kill switch. Thanks Kent. If you do not know Kent at Killer RC he makes great Kill switch along with some other out sanding products. All so his customer service is GREAT!

OK I think I now have everything I need to get my TBII Pro racer on order. Thanks to the Thanksgiving sales I paid less for many items but spent more then I should of. Being there is not any hobby shops near me never have to many parts or supplies.
I picked up another partial sponsor and would like to thank Kent of Killer RC! Been using his kill switches since he uses to be PB kill switches and they have worked flawlessly. He all so has some other great products like his LIFE batteries.

Here are a couple of pics of it installed. It will require some time of spacer underneath where it mounts to the servo mounts due to the fact the attachment point on the center diff mount is higher than the attachment points on the servo mounts.

From the factory they had two shims behind the bearing that is up against the gear. took the gear off the diff took one shim out and it worked fine. After installing the diff did not have any play and the up rights sit on the chassis like they are suppose to and everything lined up fine.
The engine for the most part are bits and pieces I had laying around.
