I received one of these baby's for test purposes, They really look nice. Here's a pic of it installed.

Now when I got the filter unit I noticed it only came with 2 filters in it, It seemed a little bit too loose for my liking so I took a piece of a HPI air filter foam and cut a third. I emailed Chris with the idea and now Nutech will be putting a third filter in the unit! Way to step up Chris.

I took out my Thunderbolt 2 yesterday and beat it pretty hard at my local track. It was running like a champ!! There is one jump with a table top that I was launching the Thunderbolt 2 about 15 ft. :excited: Out of all of that I got home and took the air filter apart and this is what I found....

No dirt at all in the filter! It worked great!! And just for kicks here's some carnage pics....

I bent the front shock tower and broke the rear turnbuckle! LOL Not bad considering what I put it through yesterday!

nice work mradlin.
nice machine BUT.......im sorry i dont want to sound like a critic now but that filter doesnt still look thick enough for my liking.
just my opinion, maybe an inside adaptor first with a thick foam like fg then that adaptor on it also with those 3 elements.
your adaptor there looks too short for the job, again just my 2c
trust me for offroad usage it needs to be as bulky foam as possible.:o

I'm sure that the outer part of the filter could be made longer, this way it could hold more foam.

what do you think?
ill tell you on offroad down through the years i used try short & smaller filters to use differnt pipes, after loads of engine failures lol the only resort was the long fg filter foam and even the cover also if possible & OUTERWEARS....
i use a tgn style redneck prefilter also,k&n were crap offroad,i tried the f1 filter and GT5-R offroad none worked they all failed quickly.
so my opinion is a good long filter, long always works best i think LOLLOL

I agree a good filter is important, this one worked great. It let no dirt in at all. :yahoo:
When you say 15 feet are you talking distance or altitude? I have one of those filters coming with my TBII Pro. How long did you run it with that filter as far as time or how many tanks of gas? Looks like you use Hylomar sealer is this correct. It is what I use if I do not have a big gap to feel as it is not gas solvable. All so are you using HPI baja boots on the shocks?

you can't beat surface area in dusty conditions, otherwise they will clog up to quick, I run the HPI filter with an extra foam and an outerware cover on it and seams to work fine

15 ft in distance about 4-5 ft high. that's after running one full tank on a dirt track. I'm not sure what this is "Hylomar sealer"? I put a set of the front HPI shock boots on the rear shocks, I wanted to see how they'd hold up. So far so good. :D

I agree Ben, the more surface area the better. ;)

blue hylomar is what i used to use in the UK on all my motorbike gasket surfaces many years ago, it's aircraft grade stuff (the RAF use it) and is probably the best sealer available...but alas I've not been abble to find any in my part of the world...i'm going to get my mum in the UK to send me some..permatex and loctite is like using toothpaste in comparison:p
mradlin looking at the above picture looking down your carb I saw the blue sealer and it looked like hylomar sealer but I guess I am wrong. hylomar is not affected by gas. This is hylomar.

That's some good info there! Thanks. No the blue your seeing is the gasket between the filter and the carb.
