First pics of my new arrival fresh from it's cardboard womb:excited:
time for a wrenching session for total teardown and rebuild...i'll be pulling a late shift tonight to get it back together ready for when the rain abates. then a quick airbrush session tomorrow or friday to add some colour.
I'll run this stock first for initial and use the supplied 3ch 2.4 LCD handset as this is how future buyers will first get it. Then when the pipe and the best Sean has to offer i'll take it to the insanity level:dance:
Boy is this thing light weight compared to the moosaur.

Sweet!!!!!!! So the the chassis is pretty much the same as the TBII? Moo what basic setting do you run on your Lauterbacher 4 shoe adjustable clutch. The one I put on my HPI Baja I just turned the screws in about a 1/4 of a turn from where it cam from the factory and love it. Seems to kick in a little later then the stock 8000 rpm clutch.

Many tell me to back off the screws and then turn them in till the adjusting screw just touches the springs and go in from 1/2 to 1 turn. What do you recommend?

was round at rc innovations this morning to have a look at his MT there are a few differnt bits like longer sup arms giving it a wider track... biger shocks (they are huge!!) shock towers are taller the rest looks the same as a tb2

90 mins and it looks like this, real easy to work on

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww294/mooman007uk/DSC00909.jpg

just got to do the diffs and put in 120K centre and 50K at each end and it's ready to go back together...I'm real impressed with overall build quality, fit and finish and tolerances...all the joints uprights etc have very little slop...about the same as my old FG and i like the fact that it has droop stop screws on the arms...no need for limiting straps like on the rampage...i like what I'm seeing....so far so good:D

i think I will be ditching radio box and the stock servos straight away...just so i don't have to tear into it again to replace them..

Are you going to shim the fuel tank where it does not meat the chassis do to the rock guards? This is something I am going to do.

With that pic Moo, you can always say...."some assembly required" LOL

I'll have to take a looksie.

yep Mike it's no longer rtr it's a sartr:D funny thing is i gained 2 coarse screws that go in the plastic and lost 2 fine thread ones that go in alloy and I cannot, for the life of me, find them....wtf?

11-26-2009, 02:40 AM
On mine I have a gap from the chassis to the tank mounts other then where the rock guards are. I am all so a little censored as the tank sits on one of the screw heads that holds the rock guard on and hope it does not rub a hole in the tank.

I am thinking the rock guards where an after thought. I have all ready brought this and a few other things to Chris attention. I spend about 2 hours just looking at mine before I took it apart. He said they are still address a few things. But for the most part I am very pleased with my TBII so far. It is a work in progress and if they keep going like they are will end up with a GREAT product!!!!!!!!!!

i totally agree these are just samples, and we with a few others are lucky enough to get them early to test...kudos to Chris, Ethan and Nutech for sending them out for real world testing to find any problems so they can address them before general release...how many other manufacturers have done this...easy...NONE
so far from what I've seen and now having one in my hands I'm very impressed with the overall quality, fit and finish and ,after running Scotts yesterday near stock, performance and handling...nutech are onto a winner here for sure

46u
11-26-2009, 03:24 AM
Yes the R&D work they do and real world testing is one of the main things that caught my eye as well as listening to the testers and making changes. You are correct not many go as far as those at Nutech are going. Many just get it to market and you are stuck with what ever you get. I do believe in a few years or less Nutech will be a household word to RC folks as well as a BIG competitor to the big names now.

I found the side guards a bit of an after thought and when I first had my Pro apart decided to mount them below as pic.

Std servos are rubbish and I have been onto Chris to find a better supplier or just supply Hitec or Futaba as std for RTR units if not I will look at selling with Hitec fitted myself.

funny that, gas jockey was saying the same thing yesterday...for the extra cost for hitecs to come stock...considering the volume discount nutech would get...would still save the buyer a few bucks seeing as they'd have to upgrade anyway...and what rtr offers what's considered to be an upgreade servo as stock...would be a great bonus to both nutechs rep and the rc buyer

Yep I agree! FG is the only company that supplies Hitec as std in there RTR cars an 805BB or the new 805MG would be awesome for steering servo as they are 24Kg @6V. Recat seemed to get it right selling cars non-RTR so they don't have to cover crappy servo's under warranty.

the redcat rampage here (i take it your typo recat is short for redcat:eek:; if not this post will be somewhat irrelevant) comes fitted with terrible servos, odd sized gws ones for steering that sound like they're full of rocks and a no name th/br servo that totally has a mind of it's own regardless of user input LOL

nearly done, took a while getting all the grease out the diffs cos i'm not allowed to use gas indoors to clean stuff..wifey doesn't like the smell:confused:

so far so good but my centre diff mesh with the pinion is a little tight hoping it'll bed in ok and the front drive bone is a tad short so used an earplug to take up the play, just have to redo my rx flat pack to fit, chuck in an fg batt box for rx and kill switch and mod a rampage th/br plate to take the new jr z9100t that arrived today and should be good for running in tomorrow...but the forecast is for bloody snow

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww294/mooman007uk/DSC00913.jpg

edit: found the centre diff binding problem...ME...too much ear plug so now i have smooth as silk drivetrain:yahoo:

yep i work quick, no rain today so after doing my chores I'm out for the maiden run, took a whiles fiddling with the electrics...my digi4 doesn't like the radio that came with it and i needed to set the subtrim to centre it so will be using my nomadio...shame cos i wanted to test out the supplied one and after lots of buggering around trying to fit my z9100t i gave up for now and chucked in a 5745 for th/br....time is of the essence as it's not raining at the moment.
Will throe on a spare desert rat bod for now until i paint my MT shell

post chores update:p
just rx box and pack and bit of trimming round the rear arches...body wants to go forward about 1/2-5/8 inch but due to other holes i could do it so this'll do...rat bod fits perfect only bad thing for bashing is the plug will get smooshed...need a plug protecter loop... it's run time in about 45mins:yahoo:
I haven't time right now but the rampage bumper with a tad of trimming will fit...screw holes line up perfect

I was just about to jump on with Rampage but saw your posts on RRF about your Nutech - I'm intrigued. Can't wait for the info - especially how it compares to your Ramps. Got a 5b and a t - but maybe it's time for something totally new.

all i can say is hold off on the rampage...was running in today but it'll be getting a real mootilizing shortly...so much more agile than my moosaur MT rampage and even at 1/2 throttle with stock 26 and "Mr restrictive" exhaust can it's fast and responsive

more body pics...i'm really liking this look and think I'll order up a clear rat to paint and leave the NMT clear bod I've got in the corner for now

Moo have you looked at your LB 4 shoe clutch since you ran it? Are all the shoe running inside the CB or is some of it hanging out the back?

haven't tried it yet...still running bone stock for proper testing and review....absolutely hammered it today out at Scotts track...he put his thru the ringer too...we'll be posting some vid footage over the next couple of days of some serious abuse, and some very bad landings etc... I'll say no more til we get some vid posted;)

Does the digi4 handle the steering well, because i was thinking of going with XS power servo

they work great i use one in my FG BAJA 4wd

bentley marshall

that looks just like a ryno digi4 with a differnt sticker on it ......i have a ryno in my sand storm pro and it works great i keep bending the steering arm

12-07-2009, 07:52 PM
It is the same case, the digi4 spec 354oz and .15. the XSpower 1050oz at .08

dc2 man

i think the case is prob all they have in common, that one looks like the ultimate servo ron

mooman007uk
12-08-2009, 04:57 PM
my rhino has been in my fgbaja, rampage tt and now this and never given me a problem...it's plenty for the NMT even with the short fg alloy red arm (cut in half) I just picked up a slighly longer silver one to increase the height so the ball end part at the bellcrank end is raised a tad to clear the centre drive shaft...it rubs ever so slighlty.

I get full throw with the short red arm but it's real close to over centring when turning left...the longer arm will fix that too.

the harm servo is a monster, it's a reworked digi4...but honestly don't think it's necessary....the 5745 gas jockey is using also does the job just fine but i prefer the bigger splines on the digi 4

dc2 man
12-12-2009, 06:52 PM
i use the 5745 always and find them a great balance beween reliability and power...

a good all round servo & a good price.

i have two in my fg evo for last year & half maybe 14-15 gallons......PERFECT!

nice vids moo by the way, looked like fun at gas jockys
