I can't believe it.

Has any one taken the time to make a list up of the fasteners so Tony's Screws can make up a kit? I hate phillips.

I think all screws are in user manual.

I dont also like philips :(
Maybe Nutech has plans for hex screws?

Hex or Torx would be great I think. :scared:

I am with you guys; either torx or hex would have been a better choice. However, the Phillips screws shouldn’t be a deal breaker if someone is thinking about getting one; it’s a cheap and easy fix.

only ones I haven't been able to replace with hex are the ones in the major plastic pieces as they're self tappers but fortunately they're never hard to remove as the ones thread locked into alloy can be...

and just to add we could do with a sealed bearing kit as well:good idea:

I used the Ramtech screws for the Redcats. They fit perfectly. ;)

On the small self tapping I use ones from the HPI Baja but have not found any for the ones like go in to the diff from the the bottom of the chassis.

Actually price each is less from Rampagehopups $10 for 60 or $2 for 10 from DMM. But I doubt youd ever use all 60 :D

Clayton from Vertigo Performance has ABEC5 sealed bearing kits for TB2 / MT
give him a shout if you want some, I also have ABEC5 bearings in stock, everyone except 10x19x7 for the lay shaft and diff pinion.

I found that using hex metric screws in all the plastic works fine, they actually rethread in the plakky and cinch down tighter than the phillips self tappers...so just about all my in plastic screws are now hex head and metric thread...i'll replace the rest when i get to stripping the parts down to install my new parts that are coming.

So If I understand correctly, I have ordered the wrong screws?
I still haven't my car, but accordingly to the manual i found on the net, I ordered a bunch of hex screws, looking like this...

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/30/6613330/400_6165393330373166.jpg and http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/30/6613330/120_3138383338313161.jpg

Only spend about 45 Euros on 100ths of screws.... in vain????

I should have waited until I have the car

I to am not a big fan of the Phillips but unless someone is going to come out with a deeper Allan screw those shallow ones that come on most of these strip out first time you remove them I have yet to strip out one of these nice stainless Phillips, as long as you use the right size Phillips head they work awesome I have a 40 piece screwdriver set with a ton of different size Phillips :-).

Thank You,

I can't believe I agree with you! lol! I am a fan of Allen head but your right , if you use the correct Phillips head driver they work very well. I use my cordless drill to remove and reinstall with the clutch setting. :)

It's Stainless Steel ones that strip, High Tensile Steel ones don't, at least coming out of plastic anyway.

I prefer Hex heads to work with, but there's nothing wrong with the screws used by Nutech, as for the circlips and grub screws I can't say the same (too soft)

Hahaha I have found the Chinese phillips are different then most US standard phillips so I got myself a nice kit with all the different size phillips and omg what a difference  I would like to see a few other changes before fastners things that take away from reliability like the servos :beat dead horse: we need Hitec or Futaba options lol!!!!!!!

hex heads are no good unless 1. they are the perfect size (many are not and round out way too easy...and yep i have good wrenches) 2. grade 10.9 minimum (preferably 12.9)or again they round out.

I hate stainless fasteners, way too soft

The one nice thing about stainless is it doesn't rust or corrode, the painted steel fasteners on a few of my samples are all rusted even the bead lock bolts :-( time to go over all of them with WD40 and steel wool arg its hard to find a good fastener these days, I got aluminum allan heads on my Ducati 848 for all the fairings and most are all stripped out already and all they do it hold the plastic fairings lol.

Little allan wrenches like 1mm - 3mm round off way to easy regardless to how hard they are which in turn starts to round off your allan screws its a vicious circle which is why I finally found small allen sockets for my 1/4 driver that are over an 1" long so when the end starts to round off I can at least cut it for a fresh end. Its a horse a piece I have had bad luck with most of the small fasteners just have to take your time and have the proper tools and replace them as they start to round off.

Phillips might not be ideal but I can use my black and decker electric screwdriver hehe. it has a torque adjuster so I can loosen it off for when I go into plastic. saves stripping plastic parts... had it for years and the best $15 phillips I ever bought. (I also use it when painting houses to remove plug covers.)

Are the hex's on the Punisher metric or imperial?

Some grub screws for example, I thought I rounded the hex off..but it seems there's not quite a good fit between my EDS and some hexes.

The larger 4mm, 5mm are not bad, still a little loose fit. But the smaller ones (collets on throttle/brake linkages, brake cams, and the 3mm ones around the steering linkags) are quite loose.

The hex fasteners are all metric. As for the phillips, I had ahard time finding ascrewdriver that fit properly. But I did, and I am happy with the phillips.

I actually dont mind the phillips. I thought I wouldn't like them but they are much easier to turn with my snap-on screwdrivers than a t-handle...

Found the Hudy 5.8mm Phillips and EDS 5.8mm Phillips fits quite good. Not tried other brands and sizes yet.
