View Full Version : VRC propipe is here

Hot postmistress had a pressie for me yesterday, my pipe and motor:punk:
so as most know already this is the 5b side VRC propipe from OBR...
fits just about perfect, a touch tight at the rear but turning the one cage mount screw around the other way will do the trick, access to tank is fine and it fits under the stock MT shell too with 1/4" clearance...a bit of foil tape on the inside of the bod for insuarnce will be needed though.
mounting I'm replacing the front cage cross bar and replacing with steel tube then a strut in each side forward to the front tower...then weld a mount tab on the exhaust side and job done...easy.
The one stupid thing is access to the clutch side manifold bolt...can't get a driver in there (though vrc supply 2 allen hex bolts??) so will have to use a regular headed bolt instead
Unfortunately this is pants for the tb2 as you'll have to cut off half the body
I'll try it on the 26 first then throw in the 27.2:good idea:

Looks like a real good fit Moo, if that pipe is anything like the one on your Ramp it's going to be impressive. :punk: Hey can't you just remove the engine and tighten the manifold hex bolt with a ball driver, looks like there's room.

you are in genius mode for sure today:good idea:...but being lazy I'll use a regular bolt for now and do as you suggest when the new motor goes in...i found that the bolts don't loosen on these like on some other pipes and of course once it's secured I can take the pipe off leaving just the manifold on...only bugger is the spring was not included:(...off to lordco i go to see if i can find something that'll work...I'll get Sean to rustle me up a proper one

Cool looking pipe! I can't wait to get mine. Have you given it a bash yet? Should be a good pipe. Looks like I am going to have to get another one for my T.My ONB package has been in Vancouver customs since THURSDAY! Maybe you want to go over there and shake them up for me. lol

only just working on the mount but hope to have it done tomorrow...the manifold spring wasn't in the pack so hopefully can find one locally that'l work until i get one from Sean...but my local auto parts stores are kinda crap for anything like this I need ...lordco and napa are my choices and home hardware/depot are a dead loss..hope to find something though..the one on mt ramp pipe is too short.
I hope customs here didn't open your box...you know how kind Sean is on $$$ if they open it and use their tiny tiny brains could be a bummer:no:...and i won the postal race yet again:dance: sorry went into gloat mode there for a second

I never win! My parts always end up closer to you than me. Oh well. Next time I'll order before you. My stuff left BC on the 14th so should be here on the 16th I can't wait to get my stuff rolling again, my T has been in pieces for weeks.
I think my spring is in the pack, so I might have mine going before you.... Ah wait a second, my MT isn't here yet. Whoops.
Hey, Moo, you had aJP pipe on your Ramp. didn't you? I had to cut down a allen wrench to get that pipe installed, would it work if you cut one rite down? Shorten it up a bit?

Moo, Nice looking sausage.:surprise:LOL
When will you have video for the sausage?:excited::dance::boxing:

sausage.LOL video hopefully as soon as it stops raining here...at least the snow has gone...started on the mount yesterday and should have it finished sometime today.
clubin I've a cut down one somewhere..at the moment on this head I couldn't get the screw in any further even with needle nose cos the hole is bunged up with thread lock...I can chase the threads down to clean them but then if I use locker again it'll be a bastard getting it all the way out again...I'll figure it out today cos i want to fire it up and see what it sounds like:gun bandana:
oh forgot to mention that I have a short ball end driver and tried from underneath but there's not enough room

wow, the "sausage" LOL fits in there near perfect and will be ideal for the MT but looks like it won't be any good for the TBII (to neat of a fit)

"Sausage"... That is damn funny, I think that is what we should call that pipe.
Oh yah, my sausage came in today so I am ready for my Mega Monster now. ONB rulz! no postage charges gotta love em.

You have a sausage now tooLOL and yup Sean is the man I had $600 worth valued at $39:dance:
So looked at mounting my sausage yesterday, cos the chassis flexes a bit coming up from in front of the tank wasn't the best place in my view cos the mount will fatigue and snap or with a real stout mount the bracket on the sausage will come off...so as i was bored anyhow and found some more 4130 tube laying around i started to build a cage...now I'll have a very big mount bracket is all, is was a bastard getting the 2 sides the same and they're still not mm perfect but pah...it'll do the job...ummmed and arred about what to do at the ass end and decided to keep the plastic hoopy wing mount bit....just have to finish bracing it up, insert a couple of helicoils in the rear for the hoopy bit to screw into , a couple of plug protection bars and the exhaust mount....the front bit will have to wait til my next steel order gets here

yep as soon as I get more tube, it'll be just a single spine so as to allow a bit of twist flex and plated atteached to the tower

mooman007uk

Body is still sitting on the bench...of course didn't try it until after i built the cage...duh...it needs just a slight trim at the back or raise the mounts up...rat body just needs a slot cutout for the plug protector
I don't think i'll be using the truck body now as i want to keep the rat look so hope to swap it sometime with a clear sandstorm body...will probably paint it though as i enjoy airbrushing and don't get many chances to try different things out
mooman007uk

cage done, pipe on and out for a spin this afternoon...this pipe on the stock 26 is all this truck needs, but to get the most out of the pipe as it was made for modded motors a race ported 26 with ceramics will be insane...i'll throw in the 27.2 sometime tomorrow or early next week to try 6+hp and revs upto 20K :boxing:
pipe fits like it was made for the nutech...and i've figured a good mount out for the plastic cage as well now. I've also more steel coming to try a slightly easier cage build that'll be real close to the stock cage so it'll fit both MT and tb2...if it works out ok especially on the time factor i'll be able to hopefully make them affordable enough and to order:punk:
anyhow final pics and a quick vid before my camera ran out of batteries

It really moves with that pipe, I mean sausage. I like the cage design and your mounting bracket for the pipe looks solid. I can’t wait for you to try it with your ONB 4 bolt on there.

I like it!! :punk:

yeah the sausage is a spicey one, really livens up the 26
OBR motor is going in today, seeing as it's pissing down rain I've nothing else to do.
I've figured out a stock cage mount for this pipe close to the one I have on this cage and am working on design for stock cage 4130 brace system that'll stiffen it up and be easy to make:top secret:...and now I'm seriously considering making a batch of full cages in the new year as close to the plastic cage as possible so it'll fit under the tb2 body as well and be easier and quicker to make hence decently priced...not too much steel in them...about 6ft of 3/8 and just over 2ft of 1/4 it's just my build time i need to cut in half. also be an option for a front single spar brace to the diff and shock tower:good idea:

So I got the OBR 27.2 in with an 813 and ada manifold ...pipe fits even better as the zen exhaust port is 2mm shorter so now it looks as if the sausage was actually made for this truck...before it was a bit of a struggle to get the pipe on the manifold as the spring tab on it caught the cage upright at the back...now it just slips straight on.
I'll be sending the finished fitment to Sean as i think he'll be advertising this as a MT/Sandstorm/fuego pipe as well as a 5b pipe
managed to warm her up and have a quick 5min run in my drive last night...:surprise:...firstly it's reeeealy reeeealy loud now just a different tone and cackles more on idle and secondly just quick 1/2 throttle squirts and it's faster than full throttle squirt with the 26 and sausage.
Found a real nice pit with awesome fine sand that's damp and well packed but still soft for big air landings and huge hill climb and some good jumps to unleash this combo (I'll aslo take a shovel:good idea:...soon as the bit of snow goes the MT is in for the bashing of it's life:punk:

Well done Moo, looks like it'll be a easy nod for ONB to do to the pipe so it'll fit the Nutech's.
