I am very interested in this car. It seems to look very nice. Does it have any parts that interchange with FG? I have an FG and a 5B that I am building. If it does use FG parts I think I may get one of these.Who has them for sale in the U.S.? Price?

The gears , clutch bell , wheels and body shells(535mm) definitly interchange, not sure what else. Although i dont think you would need any other upgrades than that. Very Nice for the $$$, i think you would be happy with your purchase, I know i am

It definately looks great. I just think it would be a bonus, this is a new car, I can get FG parts easily. If they are the same as FG on roads it is a no brainer! I wish there were more out there to check out.

Just about all FG parts will fit the main difference on the Nutech is the Engine mounts are different! In the Nutech the engine is more horizontal rather than at a 30deg angle.

Are any of thge pipe makers on board yet. I guess I could see if Dino (Jet-Pro) could do something for me.

The best tuned pipes come out of Europe! like Meilke or Samba which may bolt straight on still.

Id say anything for a rs5 (pipe wise) would bolt straight up, seems the engine is on the same angle, and half the fg stuff would also considering were most onroad pipes join

I was very not impressed with my last Samba on my FG. The new V2 Jet PRO has it beat in every department, I kick myself for letting the last one I had go.Meilke make a good performer for the 5b but a JP V3 will eat it up on top end. Not to mention they are not very bashable. This aint my first rodeo. Gabe brown makes killer pipes too. Euro pipes are over rated and over priced. Victory is another that is making big power. Sorry but I have to disagree with you on this one. But hey, everyone is intitled to their opinion, right.

I don't do onroad yet and am not sure if vrc make an on road propipe but I do know that the vrc propipe is easily the best pipe on the market...while their standard pipe is ok the pro is akin to the RN fatpower pipes (vrc made them for RN)which were the best pipe on the market..but overpriced and only designed for 26cc motors cos that's what euro race classes are limited to (offroad)...victory teamed up with OBR and took the bull by the horns and are now making motor specific fatpower pipes...I have 2 and compared to the jetpros and doms they are streets ahead...they are insane pipes, samba, jetpro, cpi, gbe, dom, meilke have nothing on these pipes...I'll lay money on it

Yep, what Moo said.

Well yes what you are saying is correct in VRC pipes but until now I don't know they have a on road pipe? The only reason I suggested Samba or Meilke is I know these pipes work for on roads in Europe and around the world who race 1/5 class to world racing rules. I am sure the Jetpro pipe works well but as far as I know they are not legal pipes for 1/5 class racing.

That clears things up. I'm not worried about rules. I don't do any formal racing. And it may take me getting a car and sending it to Dino to have him check it out before I can get a pipe from him. Ethan told me the engine sits at a lttle lower angle on these than they do on an FG.

I am sure he would come up with something nice as I have used his pipes on my Baja 5B and FG baja and seen the current on road pipe he has made.

Yes like I said in previous post, the engine in GT5R sits more horizontal than FG but most pipes made for on roads they are either a slipper joint on header or connected with a hose joint so may fit.

Cool, that is good to know. Very good indeed. How much chassis flex are you getting if any?

UP UP UP you old thread!

hows it going star? is it ok if I jack your old thread for a bit? i thought it would be better too keep all the good GT5-R info avail in one place.

I need to know if anyone has used modified motors with the gt5-r?
anyone????

They use 23cc motors; I would personally like to run one with an extremely modified 23cc (grenade ported for rpms), or, any of the 4.5+ hp engines or headkits that are compatible with the GT5-R platform.

another reason for concern is gear changes that are needed to compensate for loss of higher rpms (aka 30.5cc, etc.) or torque gearsets for better starts with a 23cc.

AND... if the FG parts fit, could those gears make radical gearing possible? i.e. will the FG 2-Speed work?

lost in mississippi...

My GT5R has a 26. I will be taking a caliper to many parts to compare but I have owned FG, Hobby Pro, XRC, Smartech, Shenghai TQ etc and have swapped and mixed many parts between the brands... (I carry a big box of spares to keep my bud's running as we do more on road than off road)

Dino is going to be making on road pipes (FG and Nutech style), and soon rc motorcycle pipes too!! (sending him my nitro bike, we are going to meet at the border and swap).

I just have to fix a couple other rc's before I attack the GT5R then I will be doing a full write up.

Well it looks as though I will be getting one of these in the future. How are they holding up? What should I be aware of? Are the good to go out of the box? Or do they need mods just to run them?

just to repeat, Dino is making a side pipe now and will be ready any day

you will need tires right away like most rc's. I also am replacing the chassis and shock springs, though once I have the new chassis I will be working on the stock one to see what I can do to reduce the flex. we are building my bud a car with the stock chassis and my spare fg parts. he has a tig welder and we are going to add some bracing, maybe just a plate to fill the exhaust hole will be enough

Thanks Barry. Where do you get your FG on road parts from? You can P.M. me the links if you want. I don't want to step on any venders toes.

Dino is going to make some big waves in the onroad scene with these new pipes.

launches: i wanted to know more about traction setups.

can the gt5r have a good "leave". i mean can it be setup for hard launches for drag racing...
larger tires? has anyone tried locking the diff? does the open diff help keep better control at high speeds?

the onroads i always see on video start kinda easy then hit it hard. why is that?

the fg race truck tires so far have been the best traction of any road tire I have tried. I use th same compound front and rear and they have been awesome...

I was getting a lot of parts from Large Scale Alloy but he's selling out. be a good time to get some deals though. I just ordered from FG Supply, and after an initial hiccup, they have been really good. Just email them about your order rather than click on the site stuff. Advance Hobbies in Ontario is really good. Very knowledgeable staff and a huge stock of parts. I have used DDM, Innovative, but most of my good deals have been ebay uk as there are so many guys stripping and parting out rc's there. They have way more people with fg's than we do in North America. so even with the shipping it is way cheaper. I just got that bling chassis 10mm cnc'd for $60. Tower Hobbies too because many firehammer parts fit just fine and way cheaper (arms for example).

I will be honest guys there are a lot of factors that concern me about these. You guys are putting a lot of work into them. to get them drivable. Why aren't DDM and LargeScaleR/C.com stocking them? With all of the work going into them to make them solid, are they really that cost efficient?

I've put more work into my fg... a few of my mods are carried over incl the chassis (running the same on both). shock springs are something we always buy and change, tires.. I have about 4 grand into my fg truck tbh... my complaints have been vocal I admit but not huge, I just am the type that calls things as I see them. and Nutech is working on a fix for the complaints I had, which will cost less to fix than most other mfg's. my frustration was more knowing the tires would suck and wanting others that didn't come... and I became the kid on the playground that got the wrong chocolate bar in his lunch

I have to buy used fg parts to come close to the cost of new cnc nutech stuff. I don't have a machine shop, just a dremmel, drill and files... we were going to run yesterday but this weather is up and down and not much fun on wet pavement... especially with bad tires ;) (had to toss another dig in, just because I am an asshole haha)

I have been working hard and today I paid off my new car, pick it up Friday. Also ordered a couple more pipes from Jet Pro. I have my Redcat Rally to get ready too. Getting too many projects going. but I will have some time now to actually work again on them. Not used to this much manual labour, too pooped to wrench when I come home. and now I have to walk over for a co op meeting dammit.
