mmm im surprised nutech still supply the GT5-R with the alloy gears for spur & clutch..sure i have it proven from my videos and its plain to see that it doest work.
i wonder what else they changed...
place for battery?
tyres (no)
body needs a lot of tlc and trimming,i tried telling others this but you will find out this when you work on it.
i would not even drive with those tyres they are rubbish being honest.i wouldnt run anything less than GRP GANDINI ( elligi mediums ) on mine.
strip & retighten shocks, lower ride height, adjust toe in camber...
good to go with these little tweaks, the GT5-R is an awesome car out of the box.
i had nothing but the mentioned small faults which relisticlly are nothing.....
looks great, reminds me of when i got mine.
im working on my track for next season where i should have some others running with me,cant wait to get my onroad beasts out again.
i would love to try a 4x4 onroad,i hope nutech does one soemtime.

Ok upgrades for the GT5R this week :D
First fit a set of FG rear cable brakes, unfortunately the FG calipers wouldn't fit on the Nutech alloy rear hubs, they did have holes pre-drilled in them for calipers but the spacing was different so lucky i had a set of FG tuning plastic rear hubs which came to the next problem the Nutech hubs are smaller in the lower arm so had to trim the plastic hubs to fit.
Next out come the CY 23cc and in with a Zen 2 bolt 23cc, I also used FG alloy engine mounts and a plastic gear carrier, I will have to order a alloy one and the Nutech is different due to the way they mount there engine (it sits horizontal, FG is at 25deg angle) With the engine I also fitted my Samba 5 tuned pipe :D
I changed the rear body mounts to SMT ones and used parts of the original to go together, this has lowered the rear body alot now! Fitted a FG plastic front bumper and the Nutech foam lined up perfectly to the holes! Changed the steering servo to a Hitec 5745MG so now I get more steering and alot faster ;D I would have changed the throttle/brake servo as well but I want to set it up with a separate 3rd servo for front brakes and also make a top deck to mount everything on, which will also make the chassis more rigged.

I see you changed shock springs too. looking good. I will be transferring most of the car over to my fg comp chassis (I like the servo tray stiff too and made mine out of carbon). Good to know about the back hubs being different. I have a set of cable brakes coming to put on the rear.... guess I need to improvise too

Oh yes forgot to mention the springs are FG progressive fronts RED short, rear YELLOW long. I also drilled 2x1mm holes in the pistons and filled with 3000 in front 2000 rear.

I use a mechanics stool. it swivels, has adjustable height and a tool tray in the bottom.

The stand is a 2 step folding stool for use around the home I brought it from a local Ebay type site here in NZ was about $10 made in China of course and just glued a thin foam pad on top!
