Yes engage has a very poor reputation at rc universe dot com. If you have no idea how he got your products then I doubt he has them. Someone should enquire with engage to see how they respond.

he often advertises products he doesn't have yet and takes preorders (and peoples money) and then hopes to get some i think

It is good that Nutech are being selective with there dealers/distributers. Nutech deserve to be recognised as a proper hobby shop brand not a discount/backyard mail order only/ebay etc brand like some. I'm sure Chris has been approached already by many of the ebay type discount sellers and we dont want Nutech going down that path.

Alot of truth to that. I was looking at how hobbytown works. They are not allowed to back any product they want. It is a franchise not a individually run personal business. When I go in there and ask about new products they have no idea what Im asking for. Example: jconcepts gladiator body, castle blower, new monster max motors, xl5 spur gears, nutech thunderbolt 2, tenergy, 540 BL motors w/internal fans. I could go on and on. Those guys know nothing about any of those things. They are never up to date on the newest stuff. They only know/promote what they are allowed to know/promote. Hobbytown among other hobbyshops is controlled by the industry leaders namely traxxas. Great products like the nutech 1/5s have to get publicity by people like us. Word of mouth and demonstrations are what is going to make the better 5th scales well known. I have seen the catalogs with the dealer cost vs. markup and MAP prices. I know its a tough business with the internet and all but wake up there are other great products besides the ones that have the expensive magazine spreads. And why have the magazines refused the Nutech reviews so far? The rampage got one when it was new.

Yeah, I agree and I am glad that you guys caught on to Engage RC. He is no good for our hobby period!!! Have the magazines really refused to test and review the Nutech 1/5's? Goes to show how much politics there really is in this "hobby".

Yes I agree Ken from Engage RC is something else, from what I can see he is getting most of his product drop shipped from trading companies like alibaba that way the factories have no idea who they are supplying to and he can order 1 at a time. All the product I deal with and import I have personally contacted everyone of the factories concerning Engage RC and none of the factories will acknowledge him as a dealer of there's so he has to be either ripping people off or getting his stuff drop shipped from trading companies. We have been ripped off by Ken on a $20,000 container of wheel mans which is in a nut shell a gas operated skateboard, he told us he had the 2009 EPA docs for the engines, well long story short US customs held our container for 3 weeks while they took them apart looking for the engine plates and proper documentation he ensured us he had which we later found out he did not. Customs destroyed our $20,000 container and fined us lol hard experience to deal with but one thing we did learn is to never deal with Ken again, and I use to send people to his site before all of this came about.
Stay clear nothing good comes of him or from him.
Thank You,
Scott

Thats harsh, unfortunately the R/C industry is becoming riddled with sharks like that due to the free for all nature of some suppliers. Not just the Chinese trading co's there are USA suppliers that also sell to anyone and everyone with total disregard for the market and the proper retail outlets.

Yes it is an unfortunate turn of events in the industry too many people out there that are just in it for a quick dollar and offer no support, that's what leaves a bad taste in a customers mouth for a long time, yes there are shady dealers everywhere another one to watch out for is auction city Australia trust me there not just in the US lol.
I agree there are allot of shady dealers out there all over that's why we need to inform people when we learn of them so hopefully people will stay clear and time will take care of the rest :-), just makes it harder for the honest ones like us to make it when these viruses as I like to call them offer the same product for a fraction of the cost lol most that have no clue will buy from he who has the lowest price unless they care about who they are purchasing from that's why forums are a great place to search about a dealer before you drop a $1000+ on a RC.
The product and support along with customer service is something that customers remember for a long time and its what keeps the hobby fun, affordable and constantly growing. I am really glad to see Nutech chooses there dealers and distributors wisely and actaully has structure for there dealers not just how many cotainers you want to buy and then never contact you again until you are ready for another container lol I have been down that road and it doesnt last long.
Just really happy to be on board with Nutech and cant wait to take on our first order :-) I need another personal RC to add to my collection, each one I own and beat teaches me something new.
Thank You,
Scott

That's awsome, I love to interact with customers outside of work we have a group of locals around here that get together and run for fun on the weekends, the nice thing about being a stocking importer is my hobby store is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week :-) if I or my local customers break something all I have to so is run down to my warehouse and grab the parts :-), we dont have much for a local hobby store around here unless your interested in disk golfing or boyscouts lol thats about all our local hobby store stocks.
Thank You,
Scott
