Was having a great time with the Punisher/Thunderbolt today, all the up graded 4mm steering screws stayed tight but I lost a lower front hub screw and bush.
I'll need to fit a screw though the A arm to hold it in place I think.

As spares are still like hens teeth in the UK I'll have to make a new bush.

If you drill though the plastic hub carrier you can put a screw across the head of the hub screw to stop it coming out.

I had exactly the same yesterday and it's an inherent problem with this type of setup. The problem being you cant tighten the screw enough without it binding, and threadlocking it in place is hit and miss at best

I have a fix though that I used to do on similar 1/8th setups, it involves bearings and shims and gives silky smooth hubs that don't come loose.

I'll order the parts tonight and give it a try.

Just fitted the 3mm screws to stop the hub screw coming loose, only takes a few minutes

Drill in the centre of the slot

The 3mm screws hold the hub screw in place very well.

That's the hubs sorted.

Good idea and a cheap fix.

Only thing is it still won't allow you to fully tighten the screws without binding issues and loose screws = knackerd threads in the knuckle. Hence why I'm going to use bearings.

if it binds then add a shim?

Not sure what you mean? I've just tightened the hub screws as tight as I can and the hubs turn nice and free with little to zero play in the bushes.

Good to go as the Yanks say and only cost a few pennies.

As I see it the screw needs to rotate in the bushing rather than the screw being tight against the bushing, causing the bushing to rotate in the c hub..

I like to use bearings where possible and have ordered some flanged ones of the same diameter as the bushing.

Please don't get me wrong, Cabbies idea is ingenious, I'm just sharing mine.

Mine don't, If I fully tighten mine the bushings rotate in the c hub, so its metal against plastic rotating rather than the screw rotating in the bush.

Again I'm not having a go, I'm overly anal when it comes to bushings/bearings etc.

If you go to post 38 in the thread bellow RC Innovations has done this moddification to the hub bushes and posted all the part numbers etc for the bearing up grade (FG parts)

Another nice idea, this is what it's all about for me. Running, breaking, modding, running, breaking, modding and so on.
