Hey guys, I have a question for you about the external helical center diff gears. Should these gears be meshed with no play, or should they have some play like a regular pinion and spur gear? I had a Titan with the same gear setup and it ate two sets of these gears up within 1 hour of running. Don't want this to happen to my new Mega Monster because they are not cheap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!:D

Gears should always have back lash, if they are too tight the teeth will break.
The Titan issue could have been other issues that affected the gear.

I haven't heard of any problems with tb2 or MMT regards centre diff ring and pinion

I have run my TB2 with well over 50+ tanks of fuel through it and had no problems with the center diff drive gears!

you need expansion room for heat. when the gears heat they expand, if set tight then you have problems and gears failing. plus it sounds horrible

Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it. I'll just see how they are setup now and if theres no problems, I'll have a good reference for the future!

On a side note Bryan, what issues/parts have worn out after 50+ tanks as a matter of interest :)

Hi Nige, As far as parts wearing out that needed to be replaced are the top shock end balls that have worn, most other parts I have had to replace have been factory upgrades to std parts. Being part of a tester really is trying out new parts and seeing if they last and if make a difference.
