Like all large scale cars, Nutech cars has sometimes problems with tank, that cap does not give so much air to tank, what engine uses gasoline.
That does underpressure to tank and engine cant get fuel.

I don't know, what cause this, it is not so common fail.

Anyway, here is pics of stock nutech tank cap:

As we see, there is tiny hole for air and that red sponge.

It has no-return valve, so air can get to tank, but fuel don't go out.

This valve can be made to tank also...

Nice job there Jesi
you can also use the fg cap as well or even a quicker fix, take the red ball out of the filter and cut 2 little slots into the ball like sponge direct opposite each other this is enough venting for the petrol tank

Where did you get the idea to use a bike tank breather valve?

That's a great idea! :good idea:

Can you post up a link to the parts for us?

I have 3 fg gas caps I got from Moo a long while ago... need one back dude?

I was considering a breather line to the back of the chassis like I use on my fg's anyway

Here's the "how to" I did on my baja a few months ago:

Fuel tanks can get vacuum locked If the tiny hole in the filler cap gets blocked, this can lead to fuel starvation and running problems.

Here's a cheap mod to solve this.

I'm using a bike tank breather (nice anodised colours too!)

And a model boat water outlet fitting for the tank connection (item GA1D)

Here are the bike tank breathers and model boat water outlets.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/Baja%205b/Photo083-2.jpg

First drill an 8mm hole in the tank and pass a piece of wire though to the filler
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/Baja%205b/Photo084-2.jpg

Next thread the model boat outlet on to the wire and tie a knot
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/Baja%205b/Photo085-3.jpg

Now pull the wire though the drilled hole till the outlet pops up and hand tighten the nut
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/Baja%205b/DSCF0004-8.jpg

Pull the wire back out the filler hole
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/Baja%205b/Photo086-3.jpg

Tighten the nut with pliers and spanner
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/Baja%205b/Photo087.jpg

Push on the one way breather valve
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/Baja%205b/DSCF0007.jpg

All done in about 10 minutes and no more vacuum locked tanks that make you think you have carb tuning issues!

I must admit I had not had a problem with this until I run my GT5-R on road but a couple of other customers have must be something to do with the red foam

I know this is an old thread, but I had tank vacuum problems today at the track. I took the red sponge thingy and tried to blow it through with compressed air, but no air came through at all. A quick fix, took a piece of cloth (old t-shirt) and replaced the red ball with that, it works great and it will trap all the dust and the tank cap did not leak (I have the alloy tank cap).

Yes it seems some have this problem but others don't? Best way as Moo discribes above with a nipple and hose on it to back of car.

The T-shirt trick work for me :-) I'll keep an eye on the tank cap and watch for leaks - I guess it will only leak when upside down, but since the car handles absolutely great, the bottom won't see much sunshine ;-) I've been driving our track all evening, and the car only flipped once - the HPI Baja I was driving with, was all over the place :-D

I must admit that my cloth trick was not sufficient. I replaced the alloy tank cap with an FG/Zenoah cap and that works great. It has a filter and a rubber valve inside.

No problems after fitting these either. =)
