Sounds like a really nice unit. Too bad I don't have any on road tracks near here.

This will be great for me, I'll race the nuts off it, I have an awesome track nearby, with lots of 1/5th on-road racers. Check it out.... look at the tiny 1/10th nitro! Isn't it sweet!! It's my old Xray NT1. I finished 7th in the championship that year.

By the way, I came up with a couple of names I like for this car. We could call it the RS5, or the GT5R?

NUTECH RACING
04-27-2009, 03:13 PM
GTR5 or GT5R, which one is better?

I like the track.

Foxy

Tell you what, lets go for GT5-R to identify that it is the alloy 'R'acing version. I think that sounds really cool... imagine at the track...

Random person: Wow, that's a cool car, what is it?
Me: It's the Nutech GT5-R (said simply as GT5R of course)
Random person: Wow, that's awesome, I want one!

:D

Wow!! Really nice track Foxy! I'm jealous. I think that's a great name for the on road car. :yahoo:

Foxy

Thanks Mike, it's a beautiful track and is made of a special high grip asphalt. It was designed primarily with 1/5th in mind, but it even gets used for 1/18ths!! That middle image is only half of the full circuit. They have the ability, by use of the islands and some barriers, to make over 40 different layouts. It's one of the best tracks in Europe, and I always enjoyed racing there, except when they made the clockwise layouts, I HATED racing clockwise, do not ask me why, cos I really don't know!!

Interesting factoid... This track is nearly 2000 feet above sea level, so in winter, it's sub zero, and in summer the track temp reaches 135 (great for the 1/5ths, makes them grip like 1/10ths on foamies), but MAN, you go through the tires fast. Everyone's running hard compounds.

And yes to GT5-R:dance:

Alpina? If you mean location, it's in Stamata, near Athens in Greece.

Thanx Foxy:) I really think it would increase sales alot more than a on road car.
When I was in Beijing hobby fair a couple of years ago now:( another manufacturer had a clone(maybe could have been a Gen FG as had a Zen in it) FG F1 car and I told them at the time it would be better promoted as A1GP cars rather than F1.

We are going to invest some more on road car body. what are the car bodys you like for our reference? :)

Foxy
05-30-2009, 05:22 PM
Chris, I want a hard top 2001 S2000. You can do whatever else you want. Here are my main desires...

Audi R8
Pagani Zonda (that will be difficult)
Aston Martin DBR9
Nissan GTR
Mistubishi EVO X
Honda S2000
Mazda RX8
Mazda RX7
Honda NSX
Porshe Cayman
Ford Focus ST (euro)
Lamborghini Gallardo (this should be really easy to tool, and is a stunning looking car)
and the one I would REALLY like to see... 1995 Toyota Supra 3.0 twin turbo.

Foxy
05-30-2009, 05:28 PM
In my opinion, the really important ones to do would be...

Audi R8
New Camaro
Aston Martin DBR9
Mitsubishi Evo X
Mazda RX8
Lamborghini Gallardo

Much as I want a Honda S2000 and a Supra Turbo, it wouldn't be as popular as these above.

Being the first to do the Audi R8 and the Aston Martin DB9 would ensure a lot of sales.

OK, I'm getting impatient. When can I have one with an S2000 body? :D

Seriously though... when will the review samples be ready? I'm having trouble containing my excitement...

Found this car on a Chinese site pity it is only plastic 1/5 but would look great on a real 1/5 petrol:D Tempted to buy just to mount up!

Foxy
06-11-2009, 07:48 AM
Wow, that's um... impactful? :)

I like realistic looking stuff myself, but hey, it's not far off the Koenigsegg, that would be a cool car to do as 1/5th, but the body is very low.

I hope Nutech can do a couple of different wheelbases and track widths for different FG bodies. I always fancied the FG Porsche GT body, or the Mercedes SLK Silver Arrow DTM.

Yes but there are already loads in the market. An Audi R8 would be muc better, never seen before. Ferraris are very common. I think you'll find most enthusiasts prefer rarer and more outrageous cars, like Aston Martins and Lamborghinis.

As we all know the style of a on road body does sell the car and I think any of the cars Foxy has suggested would be awesome:excited: I do like most of the Japanese cars that are used in there GT racing.

Some nice suggestions there, I like the early musclecars that you have already(mustang, camaro etc), what i think would go well in aus and nz would be a v8 supercar (holden or ford) model engines released these body styles in aus(1/10) and they sold like hot cakes, they were overpriced junk and they flew of hobbyshop shelves , and even the local 1/1 dealers had them in there showrooms . It introduced a lot of people to rc that would of never contemplated the hobby, V8 supercars has a Massive following here in australia and people follow either Holden, Ford or the rest. It would be nice to introduce this huge market to rc 1/5 style with some quality product like the GT5R.

When it comes to onroad aerodynamics will play a very big roll. In 1/10 Touring car the Dodge Stratus was the best handling body for many years. Also there is an issue of licencing a body.

This is the kind of body I would love to see on large scale and then have 2 hour races with 2 drivers, one pits while the other drives.

The body would need to be something durable, not too many areas that can crease or tear in a crash... Audi's are pretty nice cars.

I agree with skip, a V8 super car shell will realy sell them over here no matter how much they cost (expecialy the main Ford/ Holden Teams), but might not be so popular in other countries :(
maybe special moulds for AUS :)

we don't even have a decent go cart track in my neck of the woods or I'd get an on road.....completely different challenge to driving them cos you gotta be inch perfect to be fast...i'm totally with the DB9 le mans bod but also a C6 corvette le mans (would sell like Macdonalds in the US), mclaren F1, and of course a bugatti veyron...fg stopped making the ferrari 360 bodies and they're now as rare as rocking horse poop cos ferrari spat the dummy, bleated copyright infringement, sue you blah, blah and refused to consider licensing them so now there will never be any more...I'm sure if Enzo were still alive it'd be different but he's worm food now..man the scuderia are soooo political and anal

We do an rc demo for the scouts every year. We bring a lot of different things from planes crawlers etc. I had 3 5th scales in the parking lot, and the race truck always drew the kids in bigtime. They didn't really like the car until I did some stupid stuff driving to make it interesting.

If there was an affordable truck, I know it'd sell. man the FG bodies are about 350 lol and the shape is just very durable.

and if you make ford and chev, you better make a good old mopar. a roadrunner, super B hell ya. big old wing on back 426 hemi.

remember the little red trucks? I had a black one with the stacks on the car lot to play with. it was mental. that'd be a cool vintage body too

I was having a chat with Martin of Golden Horizon last night. He set up a booth at the indoor racing. Him and his gang of guys want to get into 5th scale on road racing with us. There are quite a few guys there too and that will kick start on road racing in this area bigtime. Can't wait to take my GT5R over to the store when it arrives. They were thinking about getting FG comps and Evos until I explained what this one comes with

any chance you will make an F1 in the future? I have always wanted an F1 and a few guys have asked me about them
