Hi all so we took the MT-pro racer out today, man what a blast took a beating.
All went well until the cart wheel flip :damn:,I was just testing a few jumps and so on when i went to far over the jump it ended up landing on its back wheel causing the upper turnbuckle to bend , this we were also expecting because the turnbuckle at the rear of the mt are way to thin, not like the other turnbuckles on the front they are much thinker, I have solved this problem buy using what I had over in the shop from a fg 4wd build ,I used the upper rear turnbuckle which was M8 to M12 so i had to re-thread that so it would fit, now its M8 both ends
Here's what im talking about http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb231/lbsickboy/06012008010.jpg

after a while the stock servo gave up on us ,the thing kept glitching like there was no to morrow well I were expecting this, I just wanted to see it with our eyes :good idea: not lol.
End of the day result
1) servo gone lol
2) bent turnbuckle
3) came as a shock to me when i was checking it threw you know all the nuts and bolt routine i found that one of my rear shocks was very springy so on my further inspection i found that the damper disc inside the shock was in 2 peaces mmm :damn:.
Here's what im talking about is there any one else

Was this shock the side that the upper turnbuckle was bent?

Hi upper turnbuckle was bent on the right hand side and the left shock was destroyed bugger (damper disc)
We hope it will not be a reoccurring problem
think it might of bean a one off , like i said no one else has had this problem
Here is the vid where it happened ,you can see how it lands for your self.

they look very nice though...
like my recent critisisim of the testing model, maybe its not fair as they take enormus punishment, and not every body jumps there models to this level all the time.
any car/truck wouldnt take this.

That looks like a good bashing spot. Too bad about the shock. Do you have the parts to repair it?

Looks like a good spot to play! I agree, the rear turnbuckle could be bigger, also I think that maybe the impact was too much for the shock damper. It should be an easy fix though.

I've had a few bad whacks with mine but even hitting my big rock WOT the shocks were fine...i did bend a rear turnbuckle slightly when the ass end whipped round...enough force to destroy the wheel but only a slight bend that was easy to fix...
i have to think that you got a poor shock piston for it to come apart like that

Cool;
Just thought it may have been from the same crash that bent the top arm.

@ mradlin clubin thanks its a sweet spot but we are not to sure how long we have as they are plans for office buildings bloody developers lol.
clubin sorry we do not have stock as off yet we want to get our web done & mean while this is being realised we are making our parts order as we speak, so when all is done we will have stock .
mooman well like i said i was expecting the turnbuckle to bend with the lightest crash ,thoe i still give it a bash to see how much it could take.
That's why the M8 self made turnbuckle both ends this for me will have to be rectified and im sure Chris will get right on this there's not much work need to set this small problem right
just the M8 turnbuckles and the upper arms will need to be drilled out to make room for the thicker turnbuckle job done it only took me like 5 to 10 Min's
The shock piston got me baffled, i think it might of bean the shock setting as the set screw was not set right on the lower arm to control the travel of the downwards movement, it might of bean set so that the shock would still travel at the end point ,where the shock would meet at the bottom of the shock body so it had no other way but keep on pulling on the shaft till it give way.
So i will be making my own or buying some shock straps (limiters) like these to prevent this from happening again

an over extension would do it for sure..
i'd use these ones...http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.6593/.f
I made some for my rampig from tie down strapping...

Sick,
maybe the melted problem caused by your modified suspension arm?

Chris they did not melt they broke in 2 halves ,This had nothing to do with the modifications i have done to the connecting pin's and arms they are just fine and holding up very well.
It might be a good idea to make the plastic piston a little bit thicker.
Also might be a :good idea: to make some nutech shock straps like the ones mooman suggested.

I am going to be testing my downtravel now for sure. I'll work with the setscrews when I hed back inside

it was the first thing I set suspension wise...in the plastic arms they stay tight maybe need a big dollop of loctite in the alloy ones to keep them in...i remember on my FG I used a longer set screw and had a lock nut on the top to hold them in place

I have broken a couple of shock pistons on my Titan in the last couple of years, but I think it was due to the many big jump landings I have put it through. I would be nice to have some alloy shock pistons with different size/number of holes so we could have more tuning options for the shocks. The ones on my FG are alloy with a groove that uses an o-ring. I prefer to use thinner oils as they seem to be more consistent through out the day, a variety of pistons would allow me to keep the thinner oil and adjust the shock with the piston instead of with oils.

Great idea +1 to that...i ran those alloy pistons in my FG also and they transformed the shocks..i'd also prefer piston hole differences to tune them so i can use the hpi oils..way better i found than silicon oil but only goes up to 40wt so smaller/number piston holes are needed...

I use the hood straps on my HPI Baja...work great and strong!!
