Dare I ask what you are wanting to do with that? I have had a lot of krappy experiences with warping heads distoryed cylinders, leaking head gaskets, and poor plating flaking off..
THey sure do look nice though.

+1, these heads have notorious cooling problems as the fan shroud is hacked off and thus the head doesn't get enough airflow...even with relieved pistons they have issues...dare I say shelf queen material

i have had one of those and never had any problems at all with it.
i only used it for 3 gallons and now its in a box, honestly thought it was a great bang for the buck motor......
we all have differnt experiences i suppose.
they have a stroker crank also, good low down bite for what they are.

The billet head kit is all I use! I love them, bolt it to a TS reed case with port work and you can't be beaten.

Not sure about quality or performance of this engine yet, just got it from CY.

the head kit ones are a crap shoot, sometimes they last a long time an run excellent, and other times they fail right from the start... you need to be careful when tightening the cooling head that you dont over torque it and run a good fuel! they like 100 octane and last much much longer with that octane!

ive been down this road too.
i remain neutral. I still have one that will fire up.
it went 17+ 750ml tanks before i wore the ring. its sitting in the parts box.
The response was nice, but friendlier combos are avail.
imho, the old g270, or the new 4 bolt CY engines can make more reliable power.
the CY Headkit will be a customer service HEADACHE, and too many breakdowns can make any car seem like garbage. A bad combination for a new "tech" customer.
fuzzy pics of the cylinder after 17 tanks...

If everybody else is running in reverse.
I've had my head kit on for a year now and my baja is by far the fastest car at the track.
I would say you need to know how to port and set these head kits up properly though :excited:

Can't see the pics.
i understand, the camera i used was lousy.
i can email the originals to you if needed.
also, after reading this thread, i will try rebuilding the old head kit next week, i can take better pics and vid if needed.
the CY Headkit is like a "finesse" motor. the bolts can be easily overtightend and many hobbyist will quickly call it junk.
after a careful topend rebuild I have abused mine to no end, and it has done fine. i am sourcing some affordable nikasil plating to further lenghten the shelf life for this kit.
CY has the new sigma "6" quality lathes and machines and new plating procedures for 2010 that if applied to ALL thier heads will make CY a superior product. I, and many builders like yourself have contacted CY to push for this ideal. they are only focusing on processing the new 4 bolt like this for now, and the 4 bolt is my best CY recommendation.
along with the addition of better screw mounts and more screw points for the headkit dome, i think CY can make a powerplant that can run 20+ gallons before any rebuilds right from the factory. the current average i think is about 7 gallons. good nikasil plating will require 20+gals of use to recoup the costs of processing.
IF you remember the old 2stroke kawasaki dirtbikes, the only thing they ever wore out was the ring or grenade the piston. the cylinder plating was REALLY tough. they knew that a grenade motor would KILL sales overnight. it costs more, but it established the business as reliable for 2 generations now.
i happily repair the parts that my motor has overpowered, but if i had to replace the motor every month i would surely have to sell the buggy.
take care!

I had one that was good, my bud rich had one that was a nightmare. seems it was hit and miss. not worth risking IMO. the engine was designed with a fan shroud for a reason... and those marine heads? man Roger went through so many rebuilds (most guys know him by Slawhammer) and being a retired mechanic he is a good wrench and knows his stuff.

I sold Roger that stupid kit. It cost me a few bucks too. The only head kit I have ever had any success with is the ADA kit.
Here some guys did buy 4pcs of these billet engines, all was full of :beat dead horse: ....
Not reliable, not running good, total failure so fast.
Like BigBrother had...
Now these guys wont buy any CY-engines (hard time to try to sell nutech cars to these guys =)

Just let them see yours and they will be sold. nothing wrong with cy engines, just the bad aftermarket billet headkits... and that was a bad run. even though it was corrected, too many people got bad ones and won't buy them now. I know it was a nightmare. My bud called DDM and they basically called him an idiot. After a while of fighting with them, I said try ONB. He bought a zen 270 race ported and was no looking back.
I have had many cy's. though my old solo has to be the most dependable lasting motor I have ever owned. I am 3rd owner and have never changed a plug even since I bought it... carb is getting a bit sticky though ;) (guess after so many gallons what can you expect)
