Decided to fit the MT A arms and increase the wheel width 25mm each side

Here's the MT arms fitted and the standard arm next to it
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0001-1.jpg

The upper turnbuckle is too short now so I'm making new ones
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0002-1.jpg

I'm using FG 8mm rose joints and 8mm stainless steel stud finished off with some alloy tube (the stud is 95mm long and the tube 68mm long)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0003.jpg

Here's the TB's fitted, the shocks are also too short so plates will be needed.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0004.jpg

Here's the front MT arms fitted and again the upper TB's are too short
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0005.jpg

I'll do the same as the rear's and cut studding and tube (I'll finish these tomorrow)

Handling should be sweet as a nut.

Nice work buddy =)

Did you have to import the MT arms?

Cheers

Having a problem with the front conversion!

I've made longer upper TB's but the dog bone is too long, to get the wheel camber correct the dog bone will need to be about 10mm shorter, I'm sure the monster truck uses the same diff, knuckles etc so can't work out why the dog bone is too long?
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0001-2.jpg

Only option is find a dog bone 10mm shorter.

Could you put more pics of your front ?
I compare mt and tb2 now to see where is the problem:)

The MT and TBII both use the same diffs, knuckles and carrier's, the problem is the A arm being short as in the above thread.

I finally have an up date to this thread :omg:

The MT rear shocks arrived from Nicolas (thanks mate) so I finished off the back end, the wheels are 480mm across the outside edge of the tyres and I'm using FG to HPI adaptors with HPI baja 5b wheels and Hostile tyres
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0001-4.jpg

Here's the FG beetle shell, just needs a little modding and she'll fit just fine.

I've got the front MT arms fitted now (thanks nutechracing.nl) and made some tie rods from 6mm stud and an alloy sleeve.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0001-5.jpg

Unfortunately the HPI wheels are a bit wider than the FTX so they rub on the steering arm, a small mod will be needed to cure this.

Looking good glad to help you out cabbie.
I think a few extra rings should sort out that little mod out for you wheels.

mooman007uk
05-12-2010, 08:49 PM
which wheel adapters did you use? the nutech ones have a lot more offset so clear the steering arm, i tried them yesterday bolting paddles on my MMT and it still has a pretty wide stance...

cabbie
05-12-2010, 08:53 PM
These are UberRC adaptors, no big deal with a little modding.

cabbie
05-13-2010, 09:42 PM
To solve the problem with the wheel rubbing the steering arm I made some spacers
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0001-6.jpg

These fit next to the wheel bearings to extend the wheel 4mm out to clear the arm, I fitted them on the back too.

agreed, we give the customer the option of which wheelbase they want, we just convert them for the customer.:punk:
most want the long wheel base, anyways the tb2 pro comes stock with a wider wheelbase so nutech oviously also agree its better.:punk:

TB2pro race stock has short arms.
In race , we prefer run with wider car , so we mount mt arms. And customers ask me wider cars : I make the car the customer want. As David, I think.
But TB2Pro race, for now, has short arms.

Got the body mounts fabricated, the front post's are cut down baja rear bars with a few holes drilled in to them, might need a small cross bar between them.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/cabbie1/FTX/DSCF0005-1.jpg

The rear post is the original item but remounted with some box section and 4 "P" clips
