Thought I'd try out a cheap electro-mechanical relay as a basic Killswitch.

It works on the bench, i.e with power to the RX then the relays output is open circuit, and when power is not present at the RX the relays output goes closed circuit (the same as pushing in the stop button)

So loss of battery power or a faulty switch etc will kill the engine.

But it won't allow you to switch it from a 3 channel system, so will not allow for seized servos or linkages etc.

Here's the relay (6V,6A) http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=2512

So hows it going with the mod then, what are you going to use to seal the relay box then ?...

The next stage is to make an rc switch so as the relay can be activated from the 3rd channel, such as this one http://www.ef-uk.net/data/rc-switch.htm

It's just a project and will be done as and when

The relay above comes sealed, I cut the case off to see the internals.

Just sharing.
