I'll have to carry it with me onto a scale. I also have an fg, and honestly can't feel much difference in weight. the aluminum doesn't seem to add much weight overall... mind you I have a lot of alloy on the fg as well and a big body

From what you've seen, do you think the Nutech car would compete at the highest level with the likes of FG, HARM, Contrast and alike?

with a couple mods (like any brand) I can't see why not. my progress is slow because I have to order things in. Being the only customer of Vancouver Hobbies into on road, I can't expect him to stock stuff just for me. and I am just working like a dog right now to get a new 1:1 car... I'd like to try it out with my fg race truck tires until my new tires arrive... the GT5R is sitting on the shelf for now until parts and sych arrive. the TB2 is getting the table for a while

It would be interesting to find out what the car weighs when it's ready to race. Most cars you'll see at an EFRA GP or European championships will weigh in at around 10.25Kg's with a shell, half worn tyres and no fuel but bear in mind they all have hydraulic brakes front & rear (so 3 servos eg 2xfutaba s9351 and a Rhino) a a PT. I assume that PMT/GRP tyres will fit straight on?

I just ordered a set of grp's for mine. I think it is comparable in weight to my fg. I have 2 on roads. the gt5r has a bit more aluminum but not much. fg has more body weight.
I have to do the lower front arm spherical bearing mod still and I ordered a package of mixed fg progressive springs to play with, as well as a different rear body mount (going to plastic). and an fg chassis. seriously. it's a lot of car for the money... just have to work through a couple problems... if I had good tires on it right now, it would be fun. the chassis flex problem I fixed by buying a 10mm thick cnc chassis, though I have the same chassis on my fg... so it's a personal thing. I don't want chassis flex.

It would be nice to see one running at the BRCA rounds and EFRA Gp's but I doubt anyone would take the gamble on the car which is a shame.

Sorry I didn't weigh my car when I got it but in the Nutech catalog is listed at 10.5kg dry, I have just weighed my car now since I have modified it and is the same 10.5kg.

The GT5-R you can compare to a FG Sportsline car but with all alloy parts, so to compete against FG, HARM, RS5 etc competition models would be very tough but I reckon you would have alot more fun as the GT5-R would only cost 1/6 of what the other guys would have spent and I bet you wouldn't be last!

Hi Bryan, it's interesting what you say. For something like an FG (ithink they're at evo 10 now?) you'd pay £2500 approx, then you need servos and a paint job but it would come with a quality tuned pipe and Hydraulic brakes. You'd be very competitive out of the box and most of the cars have been designed as pure race cars to allow every ounce of adjustment from the car.
I've race on road for years with trucks and saloons from the plastic fantastic FG right upto the EVO8 and no matter what people say, set up is 90% of racing.

Mike yes I agree 90% is prep & setup and being able to read your car on the track and make the proper adjustments.
I know from Chris Wright with Rev-up in UK they have tried different classes over the years but seems a lower beginners class never seems to take off?? maybe you can correct me on that!
I know in Sydney Australia they have run for a number of years an XRC on road starting class very successfully but the car is alot to be desired being a copy of Technokit. I really do think these cars would make a verygood one make starting class like the FG Cup for GT Porsche and Mini's.

It doesn't/won't work because IF you have a standard class with control tyres ect, people will say it's not fair because they want to modify things and they don't like it when they're told - no problem, you want to modify, you race in th open class. We used to have the plastic fantastic FG 'eco' trucks as a separate class and that was great fun but they died a death.
We have 2 classes of racer for on or off road, I think it's the 'top' 10 for the on road and 20 for the off road in the points standing from the previous year become 'super national' drivers and although everyone races together they have their own points (there is a much better explanation on the BRCA website.
