I've got the DX3S with the SR3300T receiver on my Nutech TBII. The range doesn't seem to be as good as when I had the same TX&RX in my old XTM Monster MT.

Now sometimes, the failsafe would kick in when it's quite far, but not quite far enough for it to be out of range. And have to walk (sometimes as close as 20 yards) away from the kit before the RX would pick signal again.

Does anyone have similar range/failsafe issues with their DX3S?

The aerial and all connections are all secure and sound. The receiver is packed in foam, and sits right against the battery in the RX&battery box.

When rebuild is done, I'm going to drop the SR300 receiver in and see how that goes.

Sometimes dx3s do have really short range.

There is lots of story on other forums.
I did make longer antenna with info what i found, it helped lot, but still not the best.

Telemetry range is 30-60meters only =(

I run the old school dx3.0 and never a problem. I even cut my wire down to the 3.6 inches (min wire amount in the manual). on my semi I just made a pigtail curl with the antenna wire as well.

Perhaps the SR3300T is faulty. Puzzling as the reception is ok most the time..but just seem to hit a blind spot and goes into failsafe mode.

I run the DX3R, not a single issue since I bought it. I use it on all my LS models except my Nutech, 6 to be exact.

Why aren't you using the stock radio? I love mine. it has been problem free since the initial startup.

It's really bizarre the DX3S thing.

I'm not using the stock because I've gotten used to the feel of the DX3S, it's light (only uses 4AA's) and has nice rubber grip.

The glitches seems to happen when I'm on flat ground though, also happen to be near some power lines..but that shouldn't affect it really should it?

my spectrum dx3 "new one" has been shelved from new, only ever used 2-3 tanks....

i cant stand it,aparently they develop a glitch when exposed to too much exhaust noise.mine plagued me with runaways....:damn:

now i use my futaba fasst 3pm which i love and i love nutechs 2.4ghz version also, equally brilliant.

I just had to clean all my buttons on mine. nitro, gas and dirt mixed in most were sticking... it's over 3 yrs old. been used a lot on those 3 years too... I get tired of people bashing on the spektrums..

the stock radio is quite nice though. I just ordered a bunch of extra rx's for it (I told Scott to get more for you too Clayton hehe)

I like my DX3S, like how light it is, and how it tells me the voltage on the RX..very handy. And the rubberised grip is superb!! :punk:

Just got to work out the range and why it sometimes goes into failsafe when the kit's well in range..

I had the dx3..several of them..and i liked them...on my nitros they were perfect but for some reason I didn't get great range on my gassers at all , (my obsolete react will go out of sight before it loses signal)
i have heard somewhere that a supressor cap on the plug really helps with spekkies if you have a problem

also check your rx pack for dry joints on the straps and wire connections...you may be getting intermittant glitches if you had a iffy solder connection

Hi what voltage reading are you getting on a your transmitter ?
I found out on my speky,if it was reading 5.2 / 5.3 volt it would go to the fail safe position.
It might sound the obvious but how old are your batteries.
check the voltage alert on the transmitter you might of accidently changed it in settings menu it happens to the best of us.

Hi Lee =)

The RX batteries are only 1 month old..The loss of signal/go to failsafe, doesn't always happen when battery is low. Seems very random.

I think the low battery alarm is set to 4.8v, somewhere around there..but the alarm never gone off before the RX battery goes. I only heard the alarm when I was running my Nitro.

When my diff gear kit arrives, gonna have a go at few different possibilities.

Thanks for suggestions though =)

ok what about the battery in the car it self , i had one of my solder connectors on the battery come lose that cased it to go to the fail safe.

Yup,

Shall have a go when diff gears arrive.

First, I'm going to swop the SR3300T for the SR300 receiver, and then the stock RX & TX.

Thanks for all your advices guys.

Got all front, centre, rear diffs back in, new engine mounts, and clutch mount. Back on the road

Yup, it still goes into failsafe when well in range. Have noticed that it always happens when I'm looking at the kit from the right, sometimes front right.

Somehow being on the blind side of the receiver box has affected the range..

Will try the SR300 receiver next time..which will be about 20 days from now. Working solid for next 3 weeks, starting with a 6am start on Friday. COME ON!!:punk:
