Can you run tire hights that are a little different?

well running different heights all around just changes overall gearing. running different front to back is another ball game... if you run larger tires on one axle then you are overdriving an axle. this is not an entirely bad thing though...
way back when I was a yokomo guy running on road, there were additional pulleys we swapped to overdrive the front end slightly. this helped it pull the car around more from the front than the rear and made it a different car. xray came out with the same type of setup a few years back for the xb8..
the thing is you'd want the larger tires on the front to achieve this result. if you had them on the back, there would be more drive (overdriven) from the rear wheels and would be more likely to push the car through corners. that would make it easier to drive for some people as you couldn't oversteer but you have to slow down to make the corner

as long as you got a centre diff that's not locked you're ok...with no slippage at the centre things go bang pretty quick
